Day 2 - On this trip, which was a package deal (included airfare, car rental and 6 nights hotel stay) it consisted of us staying at 3 different hotels. The first night was outside Dublin (which will be our last night as well). So, on day 2 we left Dublin to our next hotel in Castlebar (NorthWest area). First we drove north of Dublin to a town called Howth, there we saw the Bailey's Lighthouse. Next, we drove north a little more out to Bru na Boinne Co. Meath (the palace or the mansion of the Boyne, the name given to one of the world's most important archaelogical landscapes, dominated by the spectacular prehistoric passage tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth). We visited Newgrange, the best known Irish passage tomb is surrounded by 97 stones. It was excavated between 1962-1975, and is 5000 years old.

Once we left here we were on our way to the hotel in Castlebar, but first we drove by this pretty cool graveyard (depressing day visiting dead bodies, LOL) then stopped at this old house called the Belvedere House, it was closing so we could only take pictures from outside. (Note: going in the off season alot of things are closed, especially food places and things tend to close early too). Lastly, in Althone is the World's Oldest Bar - Seans Bar - so had a beer here before finding dinner somewhere... yes, Gloria stole my cider for the photo op!!! This was day 2 :)
